A 30% increase in growth rate can be achieved with the introduction of Carbon Dioxide. CO2 is an aid to photosynthesis. Plant's require light, water and CO2 to photosynthesise and in most grows, there is plenty of light and water. CO2 is usually a limiting factor in a plant's growth due to being so rare in the earth's atmosphere (<1%). Unfortunately, temperature limits the possibilities even further and a sophisticated room is required to run CO2 without frying the plants. CO2 requires a closed room environment. This means that airflow is kept to a bare minimum to allow the CO2 to circulate without being vented out immediately.
Despite the complications, it does work: At best, CO2 can produce a 25-30% increase in yield but this is usually achieved by very experienced growers with sophisticated grow labs. In most instances, we would recommend using extra ventilation as this provides the benefits of more CO2, cooler temperatures, less cost and greater simplicity. CO2 is for perfectionists that want to get the most out of an already very efficient grow.
